Bilge pump stuck on

July 12, My bilge pump is currently wired up to run manually when needed. I am lending my boat to some family so thought I would fit a float switch as well so they dont flood the boat when cruising! It looks like it will be much simpler to keep this manual switch and put the float switch in alongside.

Just got the boat 1 month ago. Previous owner started it up motor ran good. Repaired a few minor things and decided to take it out the following Saturday. Motor just spins over. Sounds to me like no spark or no gas. Disconnect water from motor. Move boat close to my work shop, remove plugs Clean and reinstall. Motor was on the stand on rear I decided to put it down remove stand and use trim to lower motor. After I let motor down Lost All Power. Checked battery wit multi-meter 3.

Any Help will be much appreciated.

The number of pumps is important from the stand point that bilge pumps are not reliable because they are electrical devices submerged in water. Contrary to common belief, the pumps themselves rarely fail; its the electrical system from which they operate that is usually the cause of the failure. Because of this, one way to improve reliability is with redundancy, or increasing the number of pumps to decrease the odds of complete loss of pumping ability.

Added to the equation is the fact that the pumps are only as good as the battery system supplying power to them. There’s not much point in having a good pumping system if the battery system is not up to running them for the necessary period of time. We’ll get into more about that in the Battery Power section later.

I like the boat for its roominess and with the 50 hp it goes mph. It is easy to handle and it cuts through the waves easily. Good shallow water boat for small rivers and coves. The boat seems to leak while travelling through the water as if water is being forced into it somewhere. I changed the 43 trolling motor to the new Motorguide Verimax 55 bow stick control. The foot pedal was just too awkward to handle. One large, divided livewell would have been better than the two smaller ones and there is no need for two bait wells.

I just use them for storage. Beautiful boat with tons of space and storage. It seems every time we use the boat it goes in for repair. First it was total electrical loss, then livewells would fill up on their own while going forward, to the point that water was pouring into the boat. Then the motor had a power loss and now the steering is out. I like the overall function of the boat.

On board the Cornelia Marie, last season’s greenhorn, Jake Harris, got a promotion to deckhand; the vessel’s new greenhorn is Joshua Harris, Jake’s older brother and Phil’s eldest son. The Maverick is now under Blake Painter’s control, and his crew is virtually all friends of his who are King-crab greenhorns, with only one experienced deck hand acting as Deck Boss.

At the pre-season captains’ dinner, Johnathan Hillstrand proposed a derby-style competition between the boats: Fewest number of pots needed to pull , pounds of crab. After dinner, the Hansen brothers decided to initiate the first pranks of the season by leaving a bag of bait fish under the Captain’s chair on board the Maverick. The Cornelia Marie left Dutch Harbor hoping to catch a break between two storms, leaving the other boats to ride out the storms tied to the dock.

The Northwestern tried a new strategy of more and bigger crab pots, carrying pots on the initial trip out to the grounds, then returning to Dutch Harbor for more pots afterwards as a way of capturing their very large quota shares at a faster pace. Rookie Captain Blake Painter of the Maverick, who had been very confident during the captains’ dinner about being able to find the crab on his own, became indecisive about where to drop his pots once the Maverick reached the fishing grounds and spent most of the first day out at sea “radio crabbing”—calling other captains on the radio for tips on where they were finding crab—which annoyed several of the veterans who had cautioned Blake against this very thing.

During the first night, the Ocean Challenger capsized and put out a distress call, and by dawn, only one of the four crewmembers was found in a survival suit. The survivor, Kevin Ferrell, tells his story to the Coast Guard. The fleet reacted to the loss of the Ocean Challenger. The Northwestern set its second load of pots while dealing with a broken hose on the hydraulic launchers. Deck boss Edgar Hansen committed the karmic faux pas of estimating their catch before it’s pulled.

You may have at some time or another heard the saying, “You might have a good running boat, or you may have some money, but rarely both at the same time”? Well, we are here to help show you that you can change the last part of that statement, and balance out the scales. When the subject of marine DIY comes about, one thinks of A.

Fish box drains to bilge Guess the previous owner didnt fish much and deleted the macerator from the build sheet What do u think – Buy a large fish bag or new thru hull and drain it overboard? If it won’t hold ice very well then I would use it for storage and either bag or cooler the catch. Originally Posted by Sleeper Post If it’s a nice insulated box I would take the steps to macerate it overboard.

My bilge is perfect If you dry stack then just rinse out and take out your drain plug Not a big deal at all My bilge is clean, smells nice Plus i only use the fish box for big fish, I have 3 frigid rigid coolers on top of the fish boxes Just Get a cooler for the snapper and grouper you catch and save the box for wahoo and dolphin.

The main idea came from reading a variety of forums, old Mother Earth News articles, and checking out some old newsgroups. It seemed that others had had some success creating solar heaters in a variery of methods, from something as complex as a custom built metal heat exchanger to something as simple as a bale of irrigation hose sitting on a slope.

I decided to aim somewhat inbetween these extremes and came up with a solar “panel” consisting of a 4’x4′ plywood sheet on a frame with as much irrigation hose as I could coil onto the surface I’ve added a diagram to show the piping clearly, and added a bit more description at the end of the article The whole thing is propped up with legs at more-or-less the optimal angle for my location, and pointing more-or-less south.

The inside of the frame was painted flat black, and the copper pipe brackets were painted flat black as well, after the thing was together. I put it on patio bricks this year to make it easier to mow around Click any of the small images for a full size in a new window. Side View Here is the ‘T’ off the pump. This is after the chlorinator, to hopefully keep the nastiness build-up in the hose away. I also added a ball valve in the line, which is super helpful in keeping the flow through the heater to a trickle.

This allows the water to get hotter in the pipe, and maintain some thermal mass.
