I know quite a bit about these myself so I’d be happy to answer whatever questions I can. First of all, you got one helluva steal on that motor. If it’s a true type-S, it should have a engine block coe of H22A. That’s the same for just about all JDM H22’s though so you gotta look for other signs to see if it’s legit.

Forced Performance – for turbocharger downpipe flanges Buy several deferent bends, some with tight radiuses, some with long radiuses Next, cut sections out of the various bends so that when they are welded together they will make one continuos pipe. The oxygen sensor should be placed approximately 14″ after the turbo so place the bungs there. Add the flex joint to the end of the downpipe where it will connect to the rest of the exhaust system.
Once you have cut all the sections of pipe you will need to make you downpipe, mark their position in relation to each other and take the pieces to a welder for welding. You can look in the phone book for a welder. Remember that once the turbine flange has been welded to the downpipe it will deform and no longer be flat. It needs to be resurface flat so that it properly seals with the turbine housing. If you are not confident in making your own downpipe, most quality speed shops that do turbo installs on imports make custom downpipes.
Check around for a good shop that you know has done good downpipes in the past. One last thing that should be considered is the dump tube for the wastegate. There are 2 options, vent the wastegate to the atmosphere through a short tube or route the wastegate exhaust back into the exhaust system at the downpipe.
By venting the wastegate to the atmosphere the car will be a bit louder when the wastegate is open but it keeps the exhaust out of the exhaust system which will reduce back pressure. Routing the wastegate exhaust back into the exhaust system will result in a quieter car and a cleaner install.
Set them aside for later with the 2 bolts from the gears. Now get out your spring compressor of choice, I choose the snap-on overhead type, because I am in love with snap-on tools, and also because I didn’t want to remove the head to do this job. Pump up your air compressor, thread the compression tester attachment into the spark plug hole, then hook the compression tester attachment to it.
Now remove the retainer and spring, and set them outta the way. Use some pliers and some muscle to get the valve seals off, grip them around the outside, without hitting the valve stem any, and start jiggling, turning, pulling, etc

By Brian Gillespie Our project car is a RSX base model and that effects the wiring when going from auto-to-manual. The following modifications work on the to models of RSX. If you have an 05 or 06, there will be some differences. I strongly suggest getting a Helm service manual or electrical troubleshooting manual to help with wiring if you have the later model. The manuals are available at helminc. Since this is a base model RSX the K20A3 only makes horsepower so just switching to a manual transmission will get more power to the ground.
You can buy the manual on line from helminc. Next up was the shift mechanism. The stock automatic shifter is a huge heavy thing and has some electrical connections for the AT Interlock System. Here is the automatic shifter with the console removed. The shift cable, four bolts and some plugs hold it in place. Here are the connectors for the interlock and starter cut.
The shifter can come from a 5-speed or 6-speed RSX.

Also VERY important make sure you have installed a fuse on the wire in between the amp and the battery. For a sub woofer you want to hook the rca cable to the rear or sub labeled rca jacks. Then run your amplifier remote wire to the remote wire protruding from the back of your car stereo. After that you can run the ground and battery cable to the correct slots. Now connect your sub via rca and your done. If you do not have an amp with a subwoofer out then you can take the wires from your sub and bridge the connection to your amp and get enough power, take the positive wire to your sub and hook it up to the positive terminal of channel one on the amp then take the negative wire from your sub and hook it into the negative terminal on channel two and your done.
